Another hit-and-run case has attracted massive headlines. The accident happened in Worli, Mumbai, involving the son of a Shiv Sena leader. The accident led to the death of a woman, and the driver who was present in the car at the time of the accident has also been arrested.

On Sunday, July 7, the Mumbai police detained Eknath Shinde faction’s Shiv Sena leader, Rajesh Shah, after his son’s speeding BMW rammed into a two-wheeler in Worli, killing a woman. The driver, who was inside the car at the time of the accident, was also arrested. However, Rajesh Shah’s son, Mihir Shah, who was allegedly driving the car, absconded.

Krishnakant Upadhyay, DCP Zone 3, said, “Worli hit-and-run case accused person’s father, Rajesh Shah, is in custody at Worli police station. One more person, Rajendra Singh, who was present in the car, is also in custody. The police do not have any information about Mihir yet.”

About the Worli hit-and-run accident.

The victim, Kaveri Nakhwa (54), was traveling with her husband Pradip from Sassoon Dock in Colaba to their home in Worli Koliwada when the accident occurred at around 5.30 am. The impact is said to be so severe that the victim was thrown into the car’s bonnet. The driver fled the scene after continuing to drive for about 100 meters.

What did Eknath Shinde say about the incident?

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that the law is equal for everyone and that the police will not shield anyone in this case. He said, “The law is equal for all, and the government sees every case in the same way. There will be no separate rule for this accident. Everything will be done as per the law.”
