A 40-year-old man allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence in the Kalyan Vihar area of northwest Delhi on New Year’s Eve day. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Northwest, Bhishan Singh, the incident was reported on the evening of December 31 and briefed media about the case on Wednesday. The couple was in the middle of getting a divorce and were struck in a dispute over the business they owned, as per reports by NDTV.
What did the DCP say on the case?
According to the news agency PTI, the DCP said, “The deceased’s father has produced his mobile phone and other related articles. The mobile phone of the deceased and other related articles were taken into police possession. The body will be handed over to the family members after post-mortem.” He said, “Soon after information, a team was immediately rushed to the spot. The team found the deceased unresponsive on his bed with a ligature mark around his neck, indicating death by hanging.”
The body was transported to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital in the Jahangirpuri area of the national capital and has been preserved for a post-mortem examination, said the police, asserting that further investigation is underway.
