In the qualification round, Neeraj Chopra threw 89.34m in the men’s javelin throw event at the Olympics.

Neeraj Chopra was seen in full action mode during the men’s javelin throw qualification event at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday, August 6. The Indian track and field athlete, who is the reigning Olympic champion and World champion in men’s javelin throw, needed only one throw to get into the finals. The 26-year-old defending Olympic champion scored the season’s best 89.34 in his first attempt in qualification.

Neeraj Chopra has yet again made India proud. The defending Olympic champion has reached the final of the men’s javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024. He only needed one throw to reach the finals, and he did that with 89.34 in his first attempt at qualification. The final will take place on August 8. The other Indian was Kishore Jena, whose best attempt was 80.73m, so he couldn’t reach the finals. The qualification standard was set at 84.00.

The final looks exciting. Neeraj Chopra will face Czech rival Jakub Valdech, who has a personal best of 99.88. He also pulled a one-try throw of 85.63 to make it to the finals, while Germany’s Julian Weber logged an 87.78m attempt. Nadeem Arshad from Pakistan, placed in Group B, also qualified with his season’s best throw of 86.59m, and so did Anderson Peters with a throw of 88.63m.
