Prime Minister Narendra Modi, like all other Indians, felt pride in the historic win of Indian star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. He dialled Chopra to congratulate him on his incredible win of a silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 and said, “Many, many congratulations to you, Neeraj. You have once again made the country proud. Last night, even at 1 am, crores of people watched you with hope.”
Neeraj Chopra said he couldn’t push himself fully.
The young Indian-winning javelin thrower said that he couldn’t push himself fully because of his injuries, and the competition was tough. He added, “I am still happy to get a medal for my country in these circumstances. There are ups and downs in sport.” Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan won gold, setting a new record with a throw of 92.97 meters, securing his country’s first-ever individual Olympic gold.
