YouTube, which has a massive creator and follower base in India, has now increased its prices in the country. Google has increased the subscription prices for YouTube Premium in India with up to a 58% price hike on certain plans. The prices have also gone up for student, individual, and family plans, and the new prices are already in force.

Google recently increased the YouTube Premium prices in India. It has already started sending emails to existing users regarding the hike in its premium plans, where a user must agree to the new prices to continue the subscription. It stated, “We don’t make these decisions lightly, and this update will allow us to continue to improve Premium and support the creators and artists you watch on YouTube.”

YouTube Premium’s monthly student plan has a price hike from Rs. 79 to Rs. 89 with a 12.6 percent price hike. The individual monthly plan has gone from Rs. 129 to Rs. 149 with a 15 percent price hike. The family monthly plan has gone from Rs. 189 to Rs. 299, which is a sharp 58 percent price hike. This plan allows up to five members to use YouTube Premium on a single subscription.
The Individual month, quarterly, and annual prepaid plans have also seen a price hike, with new costs of Rs. 159, Rs. 459, and Rs. 1,490, respectively. The new prices are available for both new subscribers and existing Premium users. The subscription offers benefits like offline download, high-bitrate streaming at 1080p, ad-free streaming on videos and YouTube music, and background playback.
