Ranbir Kapoor confirms Love & War’s release is postponed

The Sanjay LeelaBhansali-directed film will avoid a clash with Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic at the box office.

Fans of actor Ranbir Kapoor have been eagerly waiting for two of his big films, Ramayana Part One and Love & War. While the former is all set to release on Diwali 2026, there has been a lot of confusion and speculation about the latter. Ranbir has confirmed that Love & War’s release has been postponed.

In an Instagram Live session, Ranbir Kapoor confirmed that the rumours of Love & War’s release being postponed are true. However, the actor stopped short of giving a release date for the film. The film is directed by Sanjay LeelaBhansali and stars Ranbir alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. When the film was announced, it was originally set for a release in Christmas 2025. However, just months before the date, it was pushed to March 20, 2026. However, earlier this year, it was reported that the film will now be released only in 2027. It is reported that the film has no confirmed release date yet, but it is committed to release in 2026.

On Saturday, Ranbir, in his Instagram live session for his brand ARKS, addressed Love & War’s release and confirmed that the film will release after Ramayana Part One, which is slated to hit the screens in October. This means that Love & War is most likely aiming for a December 2026 release if all goes right. A leading portal earlier reported that the film may be released in 2027. Citing a source, the publication claimed that ‘a significant portion of the shoot is still pending.’ The report also stated that pending heavy VFX work and editing of aerial action sequences had ruled out a 2026 release. However, a source close to the film denied all such reports exclusively to another leading portal and reiterated, “The film is very much set to release in 2026.” The source added that filming is on track and most of the major sequences have been wrapped up. “Sanjay LeelaBhansali has just completed shooting a song track, and the major sequences for the film have already been shot,” the source added. However, no release date has been locked for the film.

Love & War will avoid clashing with Yash’s Toxic and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, both of which are releasing on March 19.
