Ravichandran Ashwin predicts Virat Kohli will lead RCB in IPL 2025

After AB de Villiers hinted at Virat Kohli’s RCB captaincy, Ashwin has the same opinion to share.

Ravichandran Ashwin feels that Virat Kohli will be leading Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The India off-spinner, who recently was picked up by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the recently held mega auction in Jeddah feels that Virat Kohli will lead RCB in the upcoming IPL in 2025.

Recently,former South Africa and RCB batter, AB de Villiers had hinted at Virat Kohli taking on the reigns of captaincy of RCB in the upcoming IPL 2025. Now, Ravichandran Ashwin too feels the same. While analyzing RCB’s auction, Ashwin said that the franchise haven’t gone with any other leadership option. Hence, he doesn’t see anybody else than Virat Kohli leading the team. Virat Kohli had previously stepped down as the RCB captain after the 2021 IPL season.

What did Ravichandran Ashwin say on Virat Kohli?

Ravichandran Ashwin, while talking on a video, posted on his official YouTube handle said, “In all likelihood, I think Virat Kohli is going to captain that side. That’s the feeling I get because they haven’t gone for a captain. Unless and until they are going to go with somebody else. I don’t see anyone other than Virat as captain.” Ashwin also hailed RCB’s auction strategy saying that the franchise was very measured in its approach, which can be seen in their buys. The team managed to acquire players like Tim David, Josh Hazlewood, Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma.

RCB’s Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat on Virat’s captaincy said, “Virat is a central figure, he is a senior member of the team. But we haven’t made any decision when it comes to captaincy. We will decide later on.”
