India batter ShreyasIyer has finally spoken about his health since the incident on Saturday, where he injured his left rib cage, causing internal bleeding. In a positive update, the India vice-captain writes he is recovering well and is deeply indebted to his fans for the millions of good wishes that have come his way over the last five days. He mentioned on his Instagram Story, “I’m currently in the recovery process and getting better, every passing day. I’m deeply grateful for all the wishes and support I’ve received – it truly means a lot. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts.”

PTI reported a day later that Iyer suffered internal bleeding and was moved to the ICU of a Sydney hospital. BCCI then released its official statement, confirming damage to his spleen. Though multiple reports claimed Iyer underwent surgery, BCCI secretaryDevajitSaikia denied them. On one hand, fans are happy to hear about his health update; on the other hand, it may be a long wait before they see him back on the field. RevSportz has reported that Iyer is likely to be ruled out for two months; the vice-captain will miss the ODI series against South Africa and be in a race against time to be fit against New Zealand in January.
