Singham theme pulled off from YouTube after T-Series makes copyright strike

The Singham Again title song was removed from YouTube and then re-uploaded after a copyright claim, but without the Singham theme.

On Saturday, the title track of Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again was released on YouTube. The video, which was uploaded on YouTube and other major social media platforms infused elements of the original Singham theme (2011 film) with a new score composed by Ravi Basrur. However, many noticed that the song was unavailable on YouTube on Monday and a message in place of the thumbnail showed it was taken down after a copyright strike by T-Series.

Singham Again title track was posted on Saregama Music’s YouTube channel on Saturday. However, by early Monday morning, the song was taken down from YouTube. The message in place of the thumbnail read, “The video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by T-Series.” On Tuesday, an edited version of the song was re-uploaded on the YouTube channel. Soon listeners noted that the re-uploaded version of the song did not have the iconic Singham theme from the previous two films. The original theme was composed in 2011 by Ajay-Atul and the sountrack then was released by T-Series.

A source from Saregama Music told Hindustan Times on the condition of anonymity, ‘Yes, there was a minor issue with the Singham Again title track regarding certain sections that had received copyright claims. But it was sorted out as soon as possible.”

First taking down the title track of Singham Again and then re-uploading a new version created buzz on the internet, particularly because T-Series is the producer of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which is clashing with Singham Again at the box office this Diwali, November 1. One Reddit user asked, “Planned by T-Series?” One commented on YouTube, “Singham Again movie ke sath bura hua hai ab hamko hi support dikhana hoga (Singham Again movie has been targetted. We must support it).”
