Stree was released in 2018 as the first instalment of the franchise. Stree 2 was released on Thursday, Independence Day, August 15, clashing with two other major films – Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa. Stree 2, the much-awaited sequel to the 2018 hit horror-comedy film Stree, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao and directed by Amar Kaushik, was released in theatres on August 15, Independence Day. The box report of Stree 2 is out for Day 1, and it has become the biggest opener film of 2024, earning Rs. 54.35 crore on Day 1. According to the website, Stree 2 organized a few special opening premiers on Wednesday, where the film earned Rs. 8 crore. However, on the opening day, Stree 2’s box office collection earned Rs. 46 crore, accounting for an estimated Rs. 54.35 crore. This makes it the biggest opening grosser in 2024, beating Fighter and Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi).
