The caption read, “Mt. Everest is not a joke and in fact, quite a serious climb esp. three sections 1) Khumbu Icefalls 2) C3 to C4 and 3) C4 to Summit during the entire night in the death zone in the frigid air! Approx 500 climbers, amateurs and inexperienced ones all over the world attempt it for its glory! Probably 250-300 succeed. I believe so far ~7,000 have summited since 1st ascent in May 1953. Many end up with frost bites, snow blindness and various type of injuries that are not counted in any database. This video captured shows what we face on one rope line and negotiating interchanges during the traffic for upstream and downstream! The main reason is weather window to avoid the fierce cruising jet streams that could be 100-240mph!! For me, coming down was a nightmare and exhausting while huge line of climbers were coming up to maximize on the weather window!!! #nepal #himalayas #everest #everest2024 #may20 #8848 #8848altitude #8848challenge”

He successfully summited Everest at 6 am on May 19.

This is just one of the many clips of an apparent constant rush hour getting to the top of world’s highest peak (at 8,848 metres), which has been dubbed “traffic jam” by many users on social media.

A British climber and his Sherpa guide got hit by falling ice while coming down from the summit, causing a big traffic jam of climbers trying to reach the top. Climbing Everest is no joke, it’s a serious and exhausting challenge.

Despite Dangers, Mount Everest Still A Dream To Conquer

Despite the dangers, many people still want to climb Everest, even though accidents and deaths have happened. The latest climbers feared dead are a man named Mar Paterson and his guide, Pastenji Sherpa. They haven’t been heard from since reaching the top.

Human “traffic jam”

The company that organized their climb said the accident happened on a steep rock face near the summit. Climbing Everest is risky because the air is thin and there’s not enough oxygen to breathe easily. It’s a tough climb, but some people still want to conquer the world’s highest peak.
