A video has recently been trending on social media, showing a young woman, while attending the Canadian citizenship ceremony, wearing a MaharashtrianNauvarisaree. The woman was seen honouring her roots by wearing something traditional from her home state.

A woman, DivyaLotikar from Maharashtra, made the momentous decision to become a Canadian citizen. She was seen in a Nauvarisaree attending the Canada Citizenship Oath Ceremony, complete with a traditional nath (nose pin) and bindi on her forehead. She shared photographs of her ensemble on Instagram, where many praised her for choosing a saree.

Sharing about getting her Canadian citizenship certificate on Instagram, Divya wrote, “Today marks one of the most significant milestones of my life. Wearing a Nauvarisaree that carries strength, dignity, resilience and continuity, this moment reflects years of perseverance, adaptation and quiet determination.” She also shared glimpses of her Citizenship Oath Ceremony, during which she received her certificate.
