The video, which has gone viral on the internet, shows an older man sharing his views on what makes a good daughter-in-law, or a good bahu. The man, a Delhi University graduate, went viral on the internet but not for good reasons after he shared his controversial views. The video was shared by Sonali Singh, who was seen asking random people in Delhi questions and recording their views.

The video began with Singh asking, “Aapkehisaab se acchibahukaunhotihai?” (“According to you, what makes a good daughter-in-law?”). The man replied, “Acchibahuka ye farzbantahaiki she should take care of her parents, by that I mean her husband’s parents. Dekhiye, unkajorujhanhaijomaineaajkaldekhahai, woapne parents meinhai (A good daughter-in-law’s duty is to care for her husband’s parents. Nowadays, their attention is on their own parents; she should focus on in-laws”). He added that women often do not treat their in-laws as their own parents. “Woapne husband ke parents koparentsnahimantiaurunko tang karnelagtihai tab parents se bhijhelnamushkilhojatahai (“Once women start bothering them, dealing with them also becomes difficult”). He further said, “Uskobaatkarnihaitohwoapni sister se baatkaregi, apni mother se karegi. Wonayegharmein mix up nahihoti (If she wants to talk, she speaks to her sister or mother. She doesn’t blend into her new home).”
