Global football icon Lionel Messi performed aartiand participated in traditional Hindu rituals during his visit to Vantara, a wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation centre in Gujarat’s Jamnagar. He was hosted by AnantAmabni and his wife, Radhika Merchant. The visuals of his visit went viral on the internet and were shared by the news agency ANI on X. They showed the FIFA World Cup winner participating in ceremonial proceedings at the centre. In one image, he was seen standing barefoot inside a temple complex, holding a thali during aarti alongside Anant and Radhika. Another photo shows him bowing his head at the shrine. A separate group of pictures shows Messi with Inter Miami teammates Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul, posing with AnantAmbani and others against a backdrop adorned with marigold garlands and temple bells.

In a statement to ANI, Vantara said Messi participated in NariyalUtsarg and MatkaPhod traditional rituals symbolising goodwill and auspicious beginnings. The statement read, “The ceremony concluded with chants for peace and well-being, underscoring the shared values that align Vantara’s mission with Messi’s global legacy.” It added that Messi, who leads the Leo Messi Foundation and focuses on social causes, education, healthcare, and children’s welfare, expressed alignment with Vantara’s purpose and appreciation for its vision of compassionate, science-driven animal care. During the visit, he also observed wildlife and interacted with caregivers and conservation teams. He took part in a MahaAarti, including Ambe Mata Puja, Ganesh Puja, Hanuman Puja and Shiv Abhishek, offering prayers for world peace and unity.
