She commented on the city’s growing population, sparking online debate over migration, real estate, and urban planning. In the video, she noted that there were “easily around a thousand people living in that block alone,” with another thousand likely to occupy a new tower under construction. She said that the view made her realise “how overcrowded Mumbai really is.” She criticised the steep cost of housing, and remarked that people were “paying crores and crores of rupees for just a hole in the wall,” a statement that has quickly caught people’s attention on the internet.

Many users accused her of being a migrant and having no right to comment on the city’s culture or real-estate landscape. Several others urged her to go back to her hometown. One user reacted, “Outsiders complaining about Outsider.” Another asked, “Didn’t you do the same?” A third person questioned, “And what do you expect people to do? To not stay in a metropolitan city?” One of the users who supported her wrote, “People are getting offended because that’s our national hobby. You share your point of view about anything – someone somewhere in India will get offended by you 😂.” Another wrote, “I’m glad you’re realising this. People find it hard to see through this thought. It is literally crores of rupees for a pocket of air. No land value.” Jayantika replying to those trolling her wrote, “Guys stop telling me to “go back” I’m a Maharashtrian from Mumbai for gods sake. This is my “back” 🤦‍♀️.” Another of her comments read, “Why are people getting so offended over ‘hole in a wall’? 😂 It’s like saying ‘we are a dot in this universe.’ Just a way of looking at things 🤷‍♀️.”
