This was the first time India and Australia faced each other since the World Cup final loss on November 13, 2023.

A viral video has been making the rounds on social media platforms. In it, fans are seen performing a special puja before the India vs Australia semi-final match of the Champions Trophy 2025. Ahead of the match on Tuesday, March 4, cricket fans in Varanasi showed their support for the Men in Blue.

Fans offered special prayers ahead of the IND vs AUS Champions Trophy semi-final.

In a video shared by ANI, a group of six men can be seen praying for India’s victory in the semi-finals at the Sarangnath Temple. While three of them were seen pouring a bucket full of milk over a Shivling, others held posters of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya as temple priests chanted mantras. A large picture of Sourav Ganguly and Sanath Jayasuriya sharing the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy was displayed alongside a poster of Lord Shiva on the temple walls.

Cricket fans offering special prayers shared their excitement.

After offering the prayers, one of the cricket fans expressed confidence in the Men in Blue and India’s chances. He said he believed Rohit Sharma and his squad would secure a spot in the final of the ongoing tournament. The fan said, “We performed special prayers at Sarangnath Shiva temple for Team India’s victory against Australia. We have high hopes from Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli should also repeat the brilliant innings played against Pakistan… India will definitely reach the final of the ICC Champions Trophy…”
