Google has enhanced its Maps service with two new features to help commuters navigate and report incidents.
Google has come up with two new features on Google Mapsto enhance user experiences. These features are introduced to solve common commuter issues, focused on navigation and reporting incidents. With the latest updates, Google makes it easier for users to report incidents, helping others travel via the same route. Additionally, it is also getting a new guidance feature to solve the most common issues like entry and exit points of a building, parking location at the destination, etc.
Destination guidance by Google Maps.
Google has enhanced its Maps service with a new feature, providing users more information about their destination. For example, if a person is heading to a new building, a new destination card will pop up from the bottom with details like parking location, entry and exit gates, etc. The new destination guidance from Google Maps will automatically light up the building the person is heading to and its entrance as they approach it, in addition to showing them nearby parking lots.
Improved incident reporting feature by Google Maps.
Earlier, the app offered a couple of options as a part of incident reports. However, users can now be more specific when reporting incidents. As part of the update, commuters can now report nearby construction, objects, police presence, and lane closure. It will now show reports both from Maps users and Waze communities. Other drivers can also confirm the report to help others traveling the same route.
The destination guidance feature in Google Maps will start rolling out globally in the coming weeks on Android and iOS and cars with Google Built-in, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The incident report feature is also available on Android and iOS and cars with Google Built-in, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto and is rolling out now globally.
