Woman fights thieves in Palghar, Maharashtra, in a robbery attempt

A robbery was attempted at the woman’s home; however, she thwarted the attempt, leading to the arrest of one.

A woman thwarted the plans of thieves who attempted a robbery at her home in Palghar, Maharashtra. She alerted her neighbours, which led to the arrest of one suspect while the other escaped.

The woman at whose home the thieves attempted a robbery thwarted their plans, and with the help of her neighbours, she apprehended one of the suspects, who has now been taken into custody. However, the other thief is on the run. The incident happened on Monday in Maharashtra’s Palghar. The woman bravely fought the two thieves, who attacked and injured her, said police on Tuesday.

What happened during the robbery attempt?

The woman and her husband had stepped out for a routine evening stroll close to a beach near their house. Upon returning, they found two intruders at their home, who had already packed gold jewellery and other valuables, said inspector Anant Parad of Palghar police station to PTI. Caught by surprise after the arrival of the couple, the intruders attempted to flee. But, the woman caught hold of one of them and tried to pin him down. One of the intruders then struck her hand with a spanner, said the official.

Despite the injury, the woman held her ground and raised the alarm to call the neighbours for help. She and her neighbours held the captured intruder till the police arrived, she said. On the other hand, her husband attempted to catch the second intruder, but he managed to escape. Some locals called the police, who reached the spot and took the 40-year-old intruder caught by the woman into custody, said the official. The woman was also provided medical treatment and is recovering, he added.
