Yuvraj Singh recently minced no words while remarking on Abhishek Sharma’s performance in his run-out on the 1st T20I.
While a fan reckoned that a big knockout was around the corner for Abhishek Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, known for his bold comments, remarked on Sharma’s horrible run-out on the first day of the T20I. A surprise appearance was made by former Indian cricketer and mentor Yuvraj Singh on Abhishek Sharma’s Instagram post to send him his stern warning after incurring a horrible run-out dismissal in the opening game in Gwalior on Sunday of the 3-match T20I series against Bangladesh.

After about two months, Abhishek Sharma was back in action in the T20I series against Zimbabwe following an impressive IPL 2024 season. He made a 47-ball 100 and then made a roaring start to the chase of 128 against Bangladesh. However, his 7-ball knock of 16 ended following a mix-up with fellow opener Sanju Samson, who quickly guided the delivery towards mid-wicket, but Abhishek was far off from his crease before Towhid Hridoy’s direct hit resulted in his dismissal. Abhishek later took to Instagram to post, “Every run, every ball–it’s all for the team,” but Yuvraj Singh minced no words to send a message to Abhishek saying, “Only if we apply our brains properly.” Though Abhishek had a dismissal, India chased down the total within 12 overs with hits from Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya.

The 2-time World Cup winner called it “good” when Abhishek was dismissed for a duck on his international debut, but the latter credited his Punjab senior after bouncing back with a 100 in his next game. While talking to BCCI.tv in a video, Sharma said, “I spoke to him (Yuvraj) yesterday, and he said I don’t know why, but he was very happy when I was out on zero. He said that’s a good start. I think he must be very proud of me just like my family.”
He added, “I am playing at this level because of him. The hard work he has put on me. For the past two, three years he has really worked hard not only on my cricket even off the field as well.”
