The victim’s family had initially refused to receive her body until a second post-mortem was conducted; her body was cremated in Bhopal nearly two weeks after her death.
The tragic death of actor and model Twisha Sharma at her matrimonial place has taken another emotional turn as her final rites were performed in Bhopal after a second post-mortem examination. Her body was cremated nearly two weeks after her death, as her family finally agreed to receive her body following fresh medical examination orders approved by the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Visuals from AIIMS Bhopal showed her body being moved into a hearse van shortly after the autopsy was completed. Later in the evening, she was cremated at BhadbhadaVishramGhatamid grief and heavy emotions.
Twisha Sharma’s family had demanded a second post-mortem investigation.
Twisha’s family had refused to accept her body earlier, claiming the first post-mortem had left several important questions unanswered. As per the reports, they had raised concerns over the alleged lack of proper examination of visible blunt force injuries and the absence of detailed radiological scans of her neck and cervical region. Seeking clarity, the family approached the court, after which a team of four doctors from AIIMS Delhi travelled to Bhopal to conduct a second autopsy. The examination reportedly concluded around 3:40 pm on the day of the cremation.
Allegations of dowry harassment.
Twisha Sharma, originally from Noida, was found hanging at her in-laws’ residence in Bhopal on May 12. Her family has alleged that she had been facing ongoing mental harassment related to dowry demands. Her husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, have both been named in the case. Speaking earlier, Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, alleged that his daughter had been “continuously tortured.” Meanwhile, police arrested Samarth Singh in Jabalpur after he had reportedly been missing for nearly 10 days. He was later brought to Bhopal and remanded to seven days of police custody. The accused family, however, has denied the allegations. Samarth Singh’s mother had earlier claimed that Twisha struggled with substance abuse and alleged that her own family had distanced themselves from her after encouraging her to enter the glamour industry.
As investigations move forward, the second autopsy is expected to play a key role in determining the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death.
