Nitin Nabin warns against foreign influence as the Cockroach Janta Party sets a deadline for the minister’s resignation.

A wave of student anger over exam irregularities reached Delhi’s Jantar Mantar this weekend, where the newly formed Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) staged a protest demanding the resignation of the education minister within seven days. The CJP, a satirical youth-led outfit, has emerged as a voice of frustration among unemployed graduates, drawing inspiration from recent remarks attributed to Chief Justice Surya Kant about the plight of India’s jobless youth.

Responding to the demonstration, BJP national president Nitin Nabin took a sharp dig at the movement, accusing “people sitting abroad” of trying to manipulate India’s young population. “India’s youth will not move forward as puppets in the hands of a few people,” he declared at an intellectuals’ gathering in Ranchi.

Nabin emphasized that the country’s youth are not “anti-establishment,” as some critics have labeled them, but rather committed to building the nation and securing their future. He pointed to India’s thriving startup ecosystem, noting that nearly two lakh ventures have been launched through the dedication and innovation of young entrepreneurs.

The BJP leader also cautioned against attempts to drag students into “negative politics,” stressing that while dissent is a democratic right, it must remain within constitutional boundaries.

The protest at Jantar Mantar, however, reflects growing unease among students and parents alike, particularly after recent controversies surrounding national-level examinations. The CJP’s ultimatum has added pressure on the government, though the BJP’s counter-narrative seeks to frame the unrest as externally influenced rather than homegrown.

As the deadline approaches, the standoff highlights a deeper struggle: whether India’s youth will be defined by their own protests and demands, or by the political establishment’s portrayal of them as nation-builders resisting manipulation.
