Manu Bhaker’s brilliant redemption arc with Paris Olympics 2024.

In 2020, during the Tokyo Olympics, luck wasn’t on the side of this young athlete; which was also her maiden Olympic appearance, where she was entrusted with representing the nation across three keynote shooting events, namely women’s 10m air pistol, women’s 25m pistol and mixed 10m air pistol events. She couldn’t qualify for the finals then, but on Sunday, at the Paris Olympics 2024, her brilliance at her game helped her create a redemption arc that could inspire others.

“A dream come true,” says Bhaker.

Taking to X, the young Indian woman athlete expressed her gratitude and wrote, “Winning this medal is a dream come true, not just for me but for everyone who has supported me. I am deeply grateful to the NRAI, SAI, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Coach Jaspal Rana, sir, the Haryana government, and OGQ. I dedicate this victory to my country for their incredible support and love.”

PM Modi congratulated Manu on her win, posting on X, “A historic medal! Well done, @realmanubhaker, for winning India’s FIRST medal at #ParisOlympics2024! Congrats on the Bronze. This success is even more special as she became the 1st woman to win a medal in shooting for India. An incredible achievement! #Cheer4Bharat
