The TV and film actor’s last funeral rites were held in Mumbai early today.
The entertainment industry, especially the television space, has been in shock ever since the sad news of actor Vikas Sethi’s passing away has made the headlines. Best known for TV shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahiin Toh Hoga, and Sasural Simar Ka, the actor died in Nashik on Saturday night in his sleep following a cardiac arrest.

Actor Vikas Sethi, also known for his cameo in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, had shared screen space with Kareena Kapoor then. He was only 48 when he passed away in sleep on Saturday. On Monday, his funeral and last rites were performed in Mumbai, in attendance of his family, friends, and industry colleagues.

The actor’s last rites and funeral were held in Mumbai early in the day. A heartbreaking video of the late actor’s mother, Surekha Sethi, shows her crying uncontrollably. Actors Hiten Tejwani and Sharad Kelkar, among many other celebs, were also seen paying their last respects to Vikas. Jaswir Kaur and Deepak Tijori were also spotted at Vikas’s funeral.

Vikas Sethi is survived by his wife and their twin sons. Vikas’ wife, Jhanvi Sethi, in a statement issued via her official Instagram handle on Monday, said, “With immense sorrow, we inform you about the passing of our beloved Vikas Sethi, who left us all on the 8th of September 2024. The final rites will be carried out according to Hindu traditions on 9th September. Your presence, prayers, and support in this trying time would be deeply appreciated.”

The late actor’s wife said they were in Nashik to attend a family function. She told PTI, “After we reached my mother’s house in Nashik, he had vomiting and loose motions. He didn’t want to go to the hospital, so we asked the doctor to come home… when I went to wake him up at around 6 am in the morning (on Sunday), he was no more. The doctor there told us he passed away last night in his sleep due to cardiac arrest.”
