The iconic actress wore a stunning blue Amit Aggarwal gown and proved she is the only timeless Indian beauty.
For many Indian fans, Cannes doesn’t truly begin until AishwaryaRaiBachchan steps onto the red carpet. And this year was no different. After days of speculation around her absence from the 79th Cannes Film Festival, the global icon finally made her much-awaited appearance, and instantly reminded everyone why she continues to reign as one of Cannes’ most unforgettable stars. Dressed in a breathtakingsculpted blue gown designed by Amit Aggarwal, Aishwarya made a dramatic entrance at the prestigious festival, marking her 24th appearance at Cannes. The moment quickly became one of the most talked-about celebrity fashion highlights of the event.
Rumours around her Cannes absence finally ended.
Ever since the festival began on May 12, fans had been wondering why Aishwarya had not yet appeared. Adding to the curiosity, her promotional poster was reportedly missing from the L’Oréal branding at Hotel Martinez, something many longtime followers immediately noticed online. Social media soon filled with discussions questioning whether the actress had been sidelined this year. However, all rumours were put to rest when Aishwarya was spotted flying out of Mumbai with her daughter, AaradhyaBachchan. And when she finally arrived on the red carpet, the wait suddenly felt worth it.
A sculpted look inspired by light and motion.
Aishwarya’s couture ensemble, titled Luminara, was created by Amit Aggarwal for his Cannes debut. The striking blue gown featured a sculpted silhouette with a mermaid-inspired finish, paired with a shimmering dupatta that added movement and softness to the structured look. According to the designer, the outfit was inspired by the idea of “light in motion”, not just as illumination, but as strength, transformation, and energy. The futuristic craftsmanship, combined with Aishwarya’s effortless presence, gave the entire look a larger-than-life feel while remaining elegant.
Keeping the focus on the outfit, Aishwarya opted for soft curls and a glowing makeup look, with pink-toned eyeshadow and blush. Her reddish-brown lipstick complemented the deep blue gown beautifully, while diamond jewellery featuring bold blue stones added just the right amount of sparkle. She was also seen posing alongside her longtime friend and fellow L’Oréal ambassador Eva Longoria during the screening of The Birthday Party (Histoires De La Nuit) starring Monica Bellucci.
