India’s Aman Sehrawat won bronze in the men’s freestyle 57kg category, opening India’s account in wrestling and taking the national medal tally to 6. On Friday, Sehrawat performed brilliantly to win India’s first wrestling medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. He defeated Darian Toi Cruz of Puerto Rico 13-5 and secured India’s sixth medal at the Olympics.

At 21 years old, Aman Sehrawat has proved his excellence in the men’s freestyle wrestling sport at the Olympics. He scored brilliantly, clinching wins on the event’s opening day by superiority in the round of 16 and quarterfinal bouts. However, in the semi-final against Japan’s Rei Higuchi, he faced a defeat. In the final event, Aman made an excellent start in the second half and gained three points locking Toi Cruz.

With nearly two minutes remaining in the game, Toi Cruz required medical attention and was in some discomfort. Aman scored another two technical points to lead 10-5 and extended his lead to seven points. The mid-battle injury troubled Toi Cruz, while Aman eventually secured a 13-5 win.
