KE Gnanavel Raja recently shared insights on the sequels to Baahubali and Kalki 2898 AD.
Producer KE Gnanavel Raja recently spoke about his upcoming film Kanguva, starring Suriya. He also shared some interesting insights about the sequels to Baahubali and Kalki 2898 AD. According to a report by Desimartini, he believes that Baahubali 3 is in the works. KE Gnanavel was the distributor for the Tamil version of the 2015 film Baahubali: The Beginning.
Is Baahubali 3 in the works?
Discussing whether there is a potential sequel to Kanguva and how rigid timelines are no longer mandatory to hook the interest of audiences, KE Gnanavel spilled the beans about a possible sequel for SS Rajamouli’s directorial and Prabhas-starrer Baahubali. He said, “Baahubali 3 is in the planning stages. I found out while discussing with filmmakers last week. They did Baahubali 1 and 2 back-to-back, but they’re now planning Baahubali 3 after a gap.” He even gave examples of the sequels for Kalki 2898 AD and Salaar, which will be made after a gap, as will Kanguva’s sequel.
Baahubali writer and Prabhas denied the possibilities of Baahubali 3.
Vijayendra Prasad, writer of Baahubali and Prabhas, denied in interviews that Baahubali 3 is possible. In May, SS Rajamouli also spoke to the press while promoting the animated series Baahubali: Crown of Blood and expressed his desire to expand the Baahubali universe beyond films. He said, “As filmmakers, we must step it up and explore all mediums. People like books, novels, games, anime (Asian animation). The idea is to take the story of Baahubali to people like them. And yet, look at us. We are still talking about the cliffhanger of Baahubali: The Beginning and how the film was effective when told in two parts. That mindset needs to change.”
SS Rajamouli will soon be directing Mahesh Babu in an action-adventure film that is yet to go on floors.
