A devastating incident has made the headlines, where a car plunged into a 600-foot gorge in Nashik, Maharashtra. This led to the death of six people. As per reports, the victims, who died on the spot, are all residents of PimpalgaonBaswant in Niphadtaluka.

Prime Minister NarendraModi condoles the unfortunate death of the victims.

Six people were killed after a car plunged into a 600-foot deep gorge at SaptashringGarhGhat in Nashik district’s Kalwantaluka on Sunday, said a police official. The accident occurred at around 4 pm. All the victims died at the scene of the accident and were residents of PimpalgaonBaswant in Niphadtaluka. The Toyota Innova, which carried seven people, was severely damaged in the crash. On Sunday, PM Modi expressed grief over the deaths in the accident near Nashik.

What did PM Modi express over the devastating accident?

Taking to X, PM Modi wrote, “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to a mishap in Nashik, Maharashtra. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover soon.” The deceased have been identified as Kirti Patel (50), Raseela Patel (50), Vitthal Patel (65), Lata Patel (60), Vachan Patel (60) and Maniben Patel (70). Superintendent of police BalasahebPatil is overseeing the rescue operations at the site.

Rescue efforts are underway with teams from the police and the district disaster management committee, said resident deputy collector and district disaster authority CEO Rohitkumar Rajput. DevendraFadnavis, Maharashtra CM, termed the incident “extremely tragic” and announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
