Gang members were arrested in the fake visa syndicate case.
Delhi police have arrested Prateek Shah from Gujarat’s Surat as the key accused, busting a fake visa syndicate. Earlier in the month, the team arrested five members of the gang, including Gaurav, Nitin Sharma, Sarabjeet Kaur, Gagandeep Kaur, and Reena Kaushal, and during investigations, they learned about Prateek Shah, as told by Deputy Commissioner of Police Usha Rangnani.
A fake Canadian visa was affixed to a passport.
On September 28, Kuldeep arrived at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. While scrutinizing his travel documents, a fake Canadian visa was found to be affixed to his passport. Usha Rangnani said that thus, an FIR was registered, and an investigation began into the matter. Kuldeep disclosed that he met an agent named Sandeep through a familiar friend. Sandeep ensured Kuldeep a passage to Canada in exchange for ₹18 lakh and also promised to arrange a job for him in Canada. Kuldeep gave him ₹5 lakh in cash as advance, and he decided to pay the remaining after reaching Canada, said Rangnani. The police said that Sandeep arranged Canada tickets for Kuldeep and a visitor visa as well.
Intense interrogations led the police to the main culprit.
Sandeep, an agent in the case, was detained late in September from Kaithal in Haryana. He told the police he ran a “syndicate” with his associates. Later, the police nabbed the other five gang members in the case, as mentioned above. During his investigation, the police learned that Sarabjeet Kaur and Gagandeep Kaur would post video ads on their social media accounts, guaranteeing Canadian visas, even in refusal cases. Further interrogations revealed that the fake Canadian visa for Kuldeep was prepared by an agent, Prateek Shah, an expert in design, preparing fake visa stickers for multiple countries from a factory in Surat.
Usha Rangnani said, “A team was formed, and Shah was apprehended from Gujarat. During the police raid on his hideout, Shah was found hurriedly packing his equipment. He was preparing to relocate his factory, having received word about the arrest of his associates and realizing that the police could arrive at his location.” The police seized several things and stationery items from the place.
