Actor Dia Mirza has opened up about her step daughter Samaira Rekhi in a recent interview. She says that she hasn’t called her maa ever since she got married to the businessman Vaibhav Rekhi. She adds even her son Avyaan does the same. Both of them rather call Diya by her name.
Dia Talks About Samaira
Talking about Samaira, Dia said, “She hasn’t called me maa. There is no expectations from her to call me ‘maa’, ‘mumma’ or ‘mother’. She has a mother who she calls ‘mumma’ or ‘mom’. She calls me ‘Dia,’. Thanks to her, now Avyaan also calls me ‘Dia’ once in a while. He says ‘Dia mom’, it’s too funny.”
Who is Samaira
Dia Mirza married a business man Vaibhav Rekhi in an intimate ceremony three years back in Mumbai. The couple welcomed a baby boy Avyaan on May 14 2021. Samaira is Vaibhav’s daughter from his first wife, Sunaina.
On Mother’s Day, Dia posted pics of Avyaan and Samira. In caption she wrote, “The greatest privilege of my life is being your mother. You make me whole, Samaira and Avyaan.” Avyaan can be seen sitting in Samiara’s lap as she smiles.
In the month of March she wrote a special birthday wish for her daughter. She captioned the post, “Happy 15th Birthday baby girl. I carry your heart in my heart forever.” Dia and Samaira posed together for a selfie, twinning in white.

Dia was last seen in road drama Dhak Dhak along with Ratna Pathak Shah, Fatima Sana Shaeikh ans Sanjana Sanghi. Written and directed by Tarun Dudeja, the film belongs to the adventure genre and depicts a riad trip by a girl gang, defying trappings, conventions and stigma.
