A day before, a stampede claimed many lives and injured many others at the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. Another shocking incident occurred, and a fire broke out at the Mela, resulting in 15 tents being gutted.

Fire broke out at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.

A fire broke out in the afternoon and was extinguished despite road access issues for fire engines. No casualties or injuries were reported, as confirmed by the Maha Kumbh officer. The fire broke out in the open area near Chamanganj Chowki outside Sector 22 on Thursday in Prayagraj’s Maha Kumbh Mela. The mishap damaged nearly 15 tents, as reported by news agency PTI. The fire department quickly responded and extinguished the blaze, confirming no casualties in the incident.

The fire was fully extinguished with no injuries or loss of life.

A video shared by news agency PTI showed the fire department officers on-site using fire extinguishers and other safety equipment to control the blaze. Chief Fire Officer Pramod Sharma said that the fire was reported in the afternoon and quickly put out. He said that the lack of proper roads made it challenging for fire engines to reach the location, but the fire was eventually fully extinguished with no injuries reported or loss of life. Sharma added that according to the sub-divisional magistrate, the tents were unauthorised. He said, “15 tents were gutted in this fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated.”

The incident occurred a day after a massive stampede happened at the Maha Kumbh Mela, which claimed the lives of 30 devotees and injured nearly 60.
