Harbhajan Singh hopes that Prithvi Shaw digs himself out of the hole that he is currently in.

After cricket fans and other leading names from the cricket fraternity commented on Prithvi Shaw going unsold at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Harbhajan Singh has also come forward to give his unfiltered take on the matter.

Prithvi Shaw was criticized by former coaches and team owners.

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh feels that if there’s anyone who can help Prithvi Shaw come out of his struggles, it is himself. Shaw has remained in news from quite some time, for all the wrong reasons such as form, fitness and indiscipline and thus hit a new low, when he went unsold at the mega auctions of the IPL 2025 that were held in Jeddah. He went from being one of Delhi Capital’s youngest and brightest prospects to becoming a player with no takers in the IPL. He was criticized by former coaches and team owners, be it Ricky Ponting, Pravin Amre or DC co-owner Parth Jindal.

Harbhajan Singh comments on Prithvi Shaw.

Harbhajan Singh, though wished nothing but good for the 25-year-old Shaw, he also pointed out a few areas, where Shaw is lacking and the issues that have landed the young player in hot waters, beginning with comparisons. While speaking to News18 in an interview, Harbhajan Singh said, “I don’t know what happened, but whatever did, I feel this is something Prithvi Shaw will need to take stock of and decide how to approach his career going forward. Such things either make or break a career, and it’s up to Shaw to decide which road he wants to take. It’s very tough for any player to digest that he’s gone unsold at the auction. And this a player who people said is as talented as Tendulkar. Our problem is that they started comparing him so early with a player as big as him [Sachin]. You put pressure on the player. But with Prithvi Shaw, there are many more factors than just cricket.”
