Harbhajan Singh rubs salt on Pakistan’s wounds after Kirsten’s resignation.

Harbhajan Singh’s advice to Gary Kirsten, urging him not to ‘waste his time’ as Pakistan’s head coach, was not taken lightly. Kirsten, a world-renowned coach who had led India to victory in the 2011 World Cup, recently resigned from the position, after a brief 6-month stint, seemingly heeding Singh’s counsel.

Harbhajan Singh now has given his reaction on Gary Kirsten’s resignation as Pakistan’s head coach.

A fan posted on his X handle, “Harbhajan Singh was aware of the complications Gary Kirsten might face in Pakistan. Kirsten is a world-renowned coach who won the 2011 World Cup with India. It will be interesting to see if BCCI approaches him and whether he considers the opportunity again. Indian needs him more now.” Harbhajan Singh reposted this and gave laughing emojis as his reaction to the post.

Harbhajan Singh had given advice to Gary Kirsten in June about taking up this position.

In June 2024, Harbhajan Singh had advised his former Indian coach, Gary Kirsten to “leave” Pakistan after their cricket was in turmoil following their disastrous campaign at the T20 World Cup and also asked him to come back to the team he won the World Cup with. He had posted on X, “Don’t waste your time there, Gary. Come back to coach Team India.”

It is reported that Gary Kirsten’s resignation from the position of Pakistan’s head coach was prompted by a rift with PCB, the Pakistan Cricket Board. This rift, it is said, led him to step down from the role within a few months of his appointment.
