Abhay Singh, 35, who has been making headlines for quite some time as “IITian Baba”, was arrested on Monday for getting caught with ganja, said the Jaipur police officials. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jaipur City (South), DigantAnand, said that Shipra Path police station had received information through the control room that a person named Abhay Singh tried to commit suicide in Hotel Park Classic.

To verify information received through the control room about Abhay Singh trying to commit suicide in Hotel Park Classic, Station House Officer Rajendra Godara and his team reached the spot and found Singh. Abhay Singh is a resident of Jhajjarin Haryana who is in Jaipur to celebrate his birthday and present at the hotel. The DCP said, “When he was asked about the information given to the Police Control Room, the person took out a packet of ganja from his possession and said, ‘I had consumed ganja, and if I have given any information under the influence of ganja, then I don’t know.’”

The central government considers 1 kg a small quantity while 20 kg a commercial quantity. Abhay Singh, in a statement later, said, “Someone said (to the police) that Babaji is going to commit suicide. The police turned up with a strange excuse for the case. But then they understood…”
