Manu Bhaker becomes the first Indian to win multiple medals in a single Olympic Games edition.
Manu Bhaker has been truly making India proud. First, she won a bronze medal in the women’s shooting 10m air pistol event, and now, she has created history by winning another bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with India’s Sarabjot Singh.

The 22-year-old shooting talent from India won a medal for the second time in three days at the Paris Olympics 2024. After clinching a bronze medal in the women’s shooting 10m air pistol event, she paired up with Sarabjot Singh to finish third in the mixed team event of the same discipline. Manu Bhaker also became the first athlete of independent India to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympic Games.

Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh defeated the South Korean combination of Lee Wonoho and Oh Yeh Jin 16-10 to win the bronze medal at Chateauroux’s shooting range. This made Manu the first Indian markswoman to bag a podium finish at the Olympics.

She also became the second Indian woman after Norman Pritchard to win two Olympic medals in a single edition of the Olympics. However, Pritchard had won two silver medals in the 200m sprint and 200m hurdles at the 1900 Olympics, an achievement for India in the pre-independence era. Manu also became the second Indian woman to win two medals after ace shuttler PV Sindhu in the Olympics.
Coming Friday, Manu will have another chance to add one more medal to her name, participating in the women’s 25m air pistol event at the Paris Olympics 2024.
