Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has delivered her first speech in parliament as an MP of Lok Sabha from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. She took to her social media on Thursday to post a short but filled clip of her speech, emphasizing the “extinction” of many art forms in her state.

What did Kangana Ranaut say in parliament?

Thanking the honorable speaker Om Birla for allowing her to speak before the parliament, she said in Hindi, translating roughly as, “In Mandi, there are several art forms that are on the verge of becoming extinct. In Himachal Pradesh, an indigenous construction technique called Kath-Kuni, and using sheep’s skin to make different kinds of clothes like jackets, caps, shawls, and sweaters, are considered valuable in countries outside India, but they are becoming extinct here. We should talk about what steps are being taken to promote these.”

She spoke about the tribal music of Himachal Pradesh.

More speaking before the parliament, she said, “I would also like to add that the folk music of Himachal Pradesh, especially the tribal music from Spiti, Kinnaur, and Bharmour, and their folk and art forms are also on the verge of extinction. So, what are we doing about them?”

Kangana Ranaut shared the video of the same on social media and wrote, “Aaj Parliament mein Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) ke vishay mein baat rakhne ka pehla mauka mila @bjp4india @bjp4himachal.”
