Kanpur Lamborghini accident: Tobacco baron’s son Shivam Mishra arrested

The accident happened near Ring WalaChauraha on Sunday when Mishra’s Lamborghini Revuelto allegedly lost control at high speed.

On Sunday, a brutal car crash happened near Ring WalaChauraha in Kanpur when a Lamborghini Revuelto that was allegedly driven by Shivam Mishra, son of a tobacco baron, lost control at high speed. The Kanpur police have now arrested the 26-year-old Shivam in connection with the crash.

The 26-year-old was arrested by Kanpur police, who is the son of a prominent tobacco businessman, in connection with the high-speed Lamborghini crash that left three people injured. Kanpur DCP Atul Srivastava said, “Shivam Mishra has been arrested, and he will now be presented in the court. We had received information that he had come to Kanpur, and our teams acted promptly and caught him.” The arrest comes a day after police took disciplinary action against a local Station House Officer for alleged procedural lapses. The accident took place near Ring WalaChauraha on Sunday when a Lamborghini Revuelto, reportedly linked to tobacco exporter KK Mishra’s firm, allegedly lost control at high speed.

As per the police and the eyewitnesses, the car hit an autorickshaw and a stationary motorcycle before mounting the pavement and striking pedestrians. Autorickshaw driver Tauseef Ahmed and two motorcycle riders, identified as Vishal and SonuTripathi, sustained injuries in the crash. An FIR was initially registered based on Ahmed’s complaint against an “unidentified driver” under sections related to negligent driving, endangering life, and causing hurt by dangerous means under the BharatiyaNyaySanhita. Police later said their investigation identified Shivam Mishra as the driver and added his name to the case. RaghubirLal, Kanpur Police Commissioner, said the luxury car has been seized. He stated that Shivam was driving at the time of the crash and was pulled from the car by private security personnel accompanying him.

The police also claimed that Shivam Mishra has an underlying medical condition that is being examined as part of the probe. Amid speculation that Mishra may have been under the influence of alcohol, police said this would be determined through medical examination and forensic reports. An official said tests are also being conducted to check whether epilepsy or another medical condition could have contributed to the crash. Meanwhile, Mishra’s family claimed he suffered a seizure while driving and said he has experienced similar episodes over the past six months.
