Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev has requested Tendulkar to help Kambli overcome his health challenges.
A few days ago, a video featuring Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli went viral. People were quick to learn about Kambli’s ill health and expressed their concern for him through comments on social media. They urged Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who at one point in his career was closest to Kambli, to do something for him. Kapil Dev, too, has urged Tendulkar to help Kambli get his life back on track.
Kapil Dev’s 83 batch is willing to come to Kambli’s aid.
Kapil Dev said that his 83 batch is willing to help Kamblii, but he has put forward a condition. At first, they want Vinod Kambli to seek rehabilitation. Marcus Couto, his friend and a former First-Class umpire, revealed that Kambli has already been to rehab 14 times and that he hasn’t touched alcohol in years. Couto further said that Kambli is battling multiple severe health issues.
Kapil Dev addressed the matter.
Kapil Dev, the president of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), said that although he and his batchmates are willing to help Vinod Kambli get his life back on track, he expects the same efforts and dedication from Kambli. At the launch of the Vishwa Samudra Open, he said, “More than us supporting him, he has to support himself. He first has to go back and look after himself. I am concerned as a sportsperson, and he has been going through a rough time. We are all (there) to support him. Sunil Gavaskar has already told me on behalf of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, and I extend my help on my behalf, but more than me trying to support him, he should support himself. We can’t look after him if he does not want to look after himself.”
Kapil Dev made an indirect request to Sachin Tendulkar for Kambli, saying, “All the cricketers feel very sad seeing his current condition. I wish his closest friends would spend time with him and encourage him to go back to rehab, get rid of this illness.”
