He turned emotional before the judge and claimed he was innocent.
In the Kolkata rape and murder case of a trainee doctor from the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the prime accused, Sanjay Roy, was caught in CCTV footage entering the seminar hall of the hospital at 4 am, where the doctor’s body was found. The CCTV footage also captured Roy wearing Bluetooth earphones around his neck. The Bluetooth device was also found near the trainee doctor’s body, which resulted in the arrest of Sanjay Roy.
Sanjay Roy presented before the court.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had presented the main accused, Sanjay Roy, before the court in Kolkata. They sought a polygraph test of the accused and suspects in the case. The lie detection test can only be conducted after gaining the consent of the court and the suspect. On Friday, however, when the judge asked why the accused was consenting to the polygraph test, the accused turned emotional and claimed that he was innocent.
What did Sanjay Roy tell the court?
The accused said he consented to the polygraph test because he believed he was innocent, saying, “I haven’t committed any crime. I’m being framed. Maybe this test will prove that.” The court has now allowed a polygraph test to be conducted on Sanjay Roy and sent the accused to 14 days of judicial custody.
The court has also granted permission for a polygraph test on the former principal, Sandip Ghosh of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and five others connected to the case. The five individuals include four doctors who had dinner with the deceased doctor on the night of the incident and Roy.
