In the accident caused by aBrihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) bus, four people have lost their lives, and nine others have been injured. The footage has now gone viral on the internet from a nearby shop in Bhandup.

The accident happened at 10.05 pm outside Bhandup railway station in Mumbai. According to initial reports, the driver attempted to take a U-turn to reach the adjacent bus depot but accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes. The CCTV footage shows people panicking and frantically running to safety inside a shop as the bus raced forward. Four people, including three women and a man, were killed in the accident, while nine others have sustained injuries. BalasahebPawar, a senior police inspector, told HT that the forensic team reached the spot along with the police team. Some of them who died in the fatal accident were identified as PranitaRasam, Prashant Shinde and MansiGurav, as reported by a leading portal.

Many eyewitnesses blamed the hawkers for encroaching on the footpath, forcing them to walk on the road. An eyewitness told PTI that buses struggle to make U-turns due to hawkers. PM Modi offered condolences to the families of the deceased. Maharashtra CM DevendraFadnavis also expressed grief, calling the accident “extremely unfortunate.” He also announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to the deceased’s kin.
