Amit Rai’s upcoming family entertainer Ohh My Dog, featuring his son Maahi Rai alongside acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi, has had its release date shifted just days before its scheduled arrival. Originally slated for July 31, the film will now premiere on August 7, 2026.

The decision was taken after the makers realized that the majority of cinema screens had already been reserved for big-ticket releases such as The Odyssey and Dhamaal 4. Adding to the challenge, Spider-Man is also set to release on July 31, creating a crowded box office landscape. Given the overlap in target audiences, Rai explained that the film’s marketing and distribution strategy would not unfold as intended without sufficient screen space. “It has all the potential, but it just won’t have the space,” he remarked, stressing that the delay was a strategic move to allow the film breathing room once the larger releases had settled.

At the trailer launch, Pankaj Tripathi spoke candidly about his involvement in the project. He emphasized that his role was limited, but his support stemmed from the film’s heartfelt narrative rather than commercial ambition. “This is not my film, but I wanted to be here today. The real stars are Amit Rai, the child actor, and of course, the dogs,” Tripathi said. He further underlined that Ohh My Dog was created out of conviction, not commerce: “It should recover its investment and reach people’s hearts. That will be its real collection.”

The film, which also features Pavan Malhotra and Rajesh Kumar in key roles, positions itself as a warm, family-centric story. By postponing the release, the team hopes to avoid being overshadowed by blockbuster competition and instead carve out its own space in theatres.
