Peter Cullen, the iconic voice actor best known for bringing Optimus Prime to life in the Transformers franchise, has passed away at 85 at his home in Los Angeles. His agent, Kevin Motley, confirmed the news, while Cullen’s family shared that he died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Montreal, Cullen carved out a remarkable career spanning decades across television, film, and video games. His deep, commanding voice became inseparable from Optimus Prime, a character he first voiced in the 1980s and continued to portray in blockbuster films such as Transformers: The Last Knight, Bumblebee, and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. For fans worldwide, Cullen’s voice embodied courage, loyalty, and leadership.

Yet Cullen’s versatility extended far beyond the Autobots. He gave life to Eeyore in The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1988–1991), capturing the beloved character’s gentle melancholy. He continued the portrayal in later projects, including Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year.

Cullen’s voice also resonated in other memorable roles. He portrayed King Kong in the 1976 film, voiced K.A.R.R., the sinister counterpart to K.I.T.T. in Knight Rider, and even created the chilling clicking sounds of the Predator in the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger classic.
