Manu Bhaker, a young Indian female shooter, made India proud at the Paris Olympics 2024 by winning two bronze medals in a single Games edition since India’s independence. First, she won bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event and then in the mixed 10m air pistol team event with teammate Sarabjot Singh. On Thursday, she met PM Modi at his New Delhi residence and introduced the pistol that won her two Olympic medals.

On X, PM Modi wrote, “It was a delight to interact with the Indian contingent representing our nation in the Paris Olympics. Heard their experiences from the games and lauded their feats on the sports field.” He continued, “Every player who went to Paris is a champion. The Government of India will continue to support sports and ensure that a top-quality sporting infrastructure is built.”
At the meeting with PM Modi, besides Manu Bhaker, the Indian Hockey Team was also present and presented the PM with an autographed stick. Aman Sehrawat, who won a Bronze in wrestling at the Olympics, also posed with the Prime Minister. Neeraj Chopra missed it as he left for Germany after the Paris Olympics concluded to consult a doctor for his groin injury. He is also expected to participate in the Diamond League Meets in Europe.
