PM Modi welcomes US Vice President JD Vance; holds talks about India-US

The leaders held talks about welcoming progress in the India-US trade agreement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump’s deputy, JD Vance, exchanged views on various regional and global issues of mutual interest. On Monday, PM Modi welcomed JD Vance, Second Lady Usha Vance, and their children to New Delhi.

On Monday, PM Modi was seen welcoming US Vice President JD Vance with his family in New Delhi. Modi and Vance held talks about the India-US trade agreement and the progress of the two nations. According to a report, the two leaders “reviewed and positively assessed” the progress in various areas of bilateral cooperation. JD Vance arrived in India for a four-day visit today and met PM Modi at the latter’s 7 Lok Kalyan Marg house.

During Monday’s meeting between the two leaders, PM Modi recalled his visit to Washington D.C. in February this year and his fruitful discussions with US President Donald Trump, which laid the roadmap for close cooperation between the two nations, said an official statement.

Welcoming significant progress.

Modi-Vance welcomed significant progress in the negotiations for a mutually beneficial India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement focused on the welfare of the people of the countries. The statement added, “Likewise, they noted continued efforts towards enhancing cooperation in energy, defence, strategic technologies and other areas.”

They also exchanged views on varied regional and global issues of mutual interest and called for dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward. PM Modi wished JD Vance and his family a “pleasant and productive stay in India.” He also conveyed his warm greetings to President Donald Trump and said he looks forward to his visit to India later this year.
