The power dynamics shifted when Smriti Irani defeated RaGa in Amethi’s 2019 Lok Sabha elections. However, in 2024, the tables turned when the Gandhi loyalist, Kishori Lal Sharma, won the seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Despite this, Rahul Gandhi came out in defense of Smriti Irani, urging everyone to refrain from using such language.

Taking to X, the leader of the opposition, Rahul Gandhi, wrote, “Winning and losing happen in life. I urge everyone to avoid derogatory language and being nasty towards Smt. Smriti Irani, or any other leader for that matter. Humiliating and insulting people is a sign of weakness, not strength.”

Reacting to the post by Rahul Gandhi, BJP’s IT wing in-charge, Amit Malviya, hit out at the Congress leader, calling him “disingenuous.” He wrote on X, “This is the most disingenuous message ever. After unleashing Congress leaders, like a pack of wolves, on the woman who defeated him in Amethi and smashed his arrogance to smithereens, this is rich. All this gibberish doesn’t take away from the fact that Smt. Smriti Irani forced Balak Buddhi to abandon Amethi.”
