Film fraternity and devotees rally to aid the Shirdi Ke Sai Baba star during health crisis.

Veteran actor Sudhir Dalvi, best remembered for his portrayal of Sai Baba in the 1977 classic Shirdi Ke Sai Baba, faced a life‑threatening battle with sepsis in October 2025. The illness left him hospitalised at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where mounting medical expenses placed immense strain on his family. His wife, Suhas Dalvi, has now revealed that several leading actors, including Ranbir Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan, and Akshay Kumar, stepped forward to cover a significant portion of the bills, offering both financial relief and emotional strength during the ordeal.

In a heartfelt interview, Suhas shared that the family initially struggled to meet the rising treatment costs, which had already crossed ₹10 lakh and were expected to exceed ₹15 lakh. “When word spread that we were unable to manage hospital bills, many from the industry came forward. Ranbir, Kartik, and Akshay were among the first to help. Others, including Sai devotees, also extended their support. The love and generosity we received was overwhelming,” she said.

Dalvi’s condition had been critical, with the infection severely affecting his joints and mobility, leading to a prolonged stay in intensive care. In December 2025, the Shree Saibaba Sansthan Trust also contributed ₹11 lakh towards his treatment, underscoring the deep respect and affection he continues to command among devotees of Sai Baba.

Although Dalvi has since returned home, his recovery remains slow. According to Suhas, he now requires a walker to move around and experiences disorientation, but being away from the hospital has brought him peace. “The hospital was not only expensive, but its atmosphere was intimidating for a patient. At home, he feels happier, and so do I,” she explained. Despite her own health challenges, including asthma, Suhas continues to care for her husband with resilience and gratitude.

Sudhir Dalvi’s career spans more than three decades across film and television. Apart from Shirdi Ke Sai Baba, he gained recognition as Guru Vashishta in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan (1987) and appeared in films such as Kranti, Satyamev Jayate, Khudgarz, Guru, and Khal Nayak. His television credits include Chanakya, Jai Hanuman, Vishnu Puran, Buniyaad, and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

The actor’s journey, marked by iconic roles and enduring devotion from fans, now stands as a testament to the film fraternity’s compassion and the faith of countless admirers who rallied to support him in his time of need.
