Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar becomes the most viewed series on Netflix in the very first week of its launch. The series includes a stellar star cast with Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hyadri, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan Suman on board.

Heeramandi has secured the Top 10 position in 43 countries with its captivating viewership worldwide. The stellar tale of modern India Tawaif culture has garnered Top 2 position in Non-English TV list. With its compelling storytelling and star-studded cast, it has made it’s way to people’s hearts.

Surpasses The Great Indian Kapil Show On Netflix

The show raked in 4.5 million views, with 33 million accumulated viewership hours. It is trailing behind The Asunta Case, which has 12 million views in its second week. The show’s number two debut puts it ahead of The Great Indian Kapil Show, which debuted at the number three spot a few weeks ago, with 2.5 million views

The Storyline

The story is set in the backdrop of India’s freedom for independence with timeline ranging from 1920 to 1940s which displays encounter of courtesans of red light area of Heeramandi with the British officials. It is a story which showcases lives of courtesans, internal politics and their desire for freedom.

Will There Be Another Season?

Manisha Koirala recently talked about her latest show and shared her experience of working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In her interview, she also told that there are many more such stories from the area of Heeramandi, hence hinting at possibility of another season of the hit TV show on Netflix.
