Sound comfort, double saving, a major impact on the savings of a man who is now living in Delhi NCR.

Mumbai is known as a dream city, but surviving here is not a cakewalk. Surviving in the city demands major compromises and massive challenges. Recently, a man talked about the impact his life has had since moving from Mumbai to Delhi-NCR. This has begun an online discussion.

This was so surprising to him as well, and he lived in Delhi-NCR more comfortably, with a major positive effect on his savings, which was shocking for the man himself. There is a major difference in rent, commute, savings and overall quality of life in the two cities.

The man shares online that he recently moved from Mumbai to Delhi-NCR for work, and I didn’t expect the lifestyle difference to be this noticeable. Being a bachelor earning around ₹1.4 lakh per month. In Mumbai, where he was paying nearly ₹35,000 for a decent 1BHK, plus ₹10,000 per month for furniture rent (including AC, bed, geyser, etc.), so ₹45,000 per month overall. It was not so bad, but it always felt like I was paying a premium to have an average place.

Further, he explained how things changed when he switched to Reddit, and a user said that Delhi-NCR offered better rental options at almost half the cost. “In Delhi NCR, the rent range was much lower than Mumbai; 1RKs were around the ₹20,000 range. They’re newer, much more spacious, already fully furnished with modern furniture, have pre-installed ACs, are in better societies, and are overall much cleaner. He was getting far more for his money.

It also lowers healthcare costs, and cheaper house help also made a visible difference. “Back in Mumbai, the man was saving around ₹45,000 a month. Now, he can save close to ₹90,000 while actually living more comfortably. The Delhi Metro has also been a huge plus; it can pretty much get people anywhere without the space crunch of the Mumbai local.

The man clarifies that he was not dismissing Mumbai’s appeal. Mumbai has its own aura, energy and career opportunities that no other city can offer. But purely from a cost-of-living and quality-of-life perspective, the move has been a big upgrade for me,” the user concluded.
