The SonaComstar row continues, and as per the latest reports, late SunjayKapur’s mother, Rani Kapur, has now moved the Delhi High Court, alleging thatPriyaSachdevKapur, Sunjay’s widowed wife, has used a fraudulent trust to divert her family’s estate.

Rani Kapur recently approached the Delhi High Court. As per an ANI report, Rani has alleged that Priya, in collusion with other family members, used a fraudulent trust to unlawfully divert her entire estate, family legacy and controlling stakes in key Sona Group companies. Rani Kapur, in a detailed civil suit, sought a declaration that the “RK Family Trust / Rani Kapur Family Trust,” purportedly created through a trust deed dated October 26, 2017, is illegal, void, and the result of fraud, forgery and undue influence.

As per a report by Bar and Bench, the suit filed in Delhi High Court states that after Rani Kapur’s stroke in 2017, Sunjay and his third wife Priya exploited her physical dependence and trust to orchestrate a complex scheme transferring all her assets into the RK Family Trust without her informed consent. As per Bar and Bench, the suit states, “It is submitted that by means of a complex web of illegal transactions undertaken by the Defendant Nos. 1 [PriyaKapur] to 9 in an unfortunate collusion with the Plaintiff’s now deceased son, Late Mr.SunjayKapur, all the Plaintiff’s assets vest in one fraudulent Trust titled – RK Family Trust, without her knowledge. The entire fraud perpetrated upon the Plaintiff has only now been discovered post the demise of her Late Son, who also passed away under mysterious circumstances, on 12.06.2025, and the series of events that have unfolded immediately thereafter.”
The suit adds that Rani Kapur is the sole beneficiary and legatee of the entire estate of her late husband, Dr SurinderKapur, founder and promoter of the Sona Group, who passed away in June 2015.
