Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal has unveiled a groundbreaking update on Temple, a brain-focused wearable device now being hailed as the smallest and most powerful of its kind. Sharing the news on X, Goyal emphasized that Temple’s reduced size makes it more practical while retaining its advanced capabilities. The announcement has sparked curiosity, especially after Indian badminton star PV Sindhu was seen wearing it during the BWF World Championships 2026 in New Delhi.

At its core, Temple is designed to measure a unique biomarker called Entropy, which Goyal describes as the “real-time cost of being alive.” Unlike traditional wearables that rely heavily on heart rate monitoring, Temple focuses on cerebral blood flow, oxygenation, and cognitive load. Entropy is updated every second on a scale from 1 to 250, with lower values linked to deep rest and higher values associated with peak physical or mental exertion. For example, elite meditators have recorded values close to 1, while top athletes in peak performance have reached the upper end of the scale.

The significance of Entropy lies in its ability to reflect both recovery and resilience. A high Entropy Maxima indicates a body capable of rising to intense effort and bouncing back, while a low Entropy Minima at rest suggests longevity and efficient energy use. According to Goyal, this dual measurement provides insights into healthy aging and overall vitality that heart rate alone cannot capture. In fact, Temple’s Entropy readings have shown a strong correlation with metabolic cart data, outperforming heart rate tracking in precision.

Temple’s sensors use light-based technology to detect changes in blood flow and oxygenation, offering a window into how the brain responds to stress, fatigue, and recovery. While these readings are not substitutes for medical diagnosis, they provide valuable real-time feedback for athletes, researchers, and health-conscious individuals. Goyal believes that “living with Entropy” can transform self-awareness, helping users understand their body’s limits and potential in ways no other metric has achieved.

As anticipation builds, Temple is positioned as a premium health-tech innovation that blends neuroscience with wearable convenience. Though pricing details remain undisclosed, its promise of redefining performance and longevity has already made it one of the most talked-about devices in the wellness and sports community.
