Zoya Akhtar and ReemaKagti founded Tiger Baby Films in 2015, which has produced acclaimed projects such as Gully Boy, Made in Heaven, and more.
A major security breach occurred at Tiger Baby Films, an acclaimed film production house founded by filmmakers Zoya Akhtar and ReemaKagti in 2015. Tiger Baby Digital LLP reportedly became the target of a major data theft case involving missing hard drives worth nearly ₹13 lakh.
Tiger Baby Digital LLP suffered a data theft worth ₹13 lakh at its Mumbai office.
The complaint was reportedly filed by MehjabeenMushtaq Shaikh, an executive assistant at the production house. In the FIR, Shaikh explained that the office stored multiple hard drives containing important production-related content, including raw footage, edited scenes, promotional material, and completed projects. Initially, Shaikh had organised and stored the hard drives inside a cupboard at the office. However, over time, the responsibility for managing and maintaining the drives was allegedly transferred to another employee, identified as Shahid Khan. The matter reportedly came to light on May 21, when staff members asked Khan to retrieve one of the hard drives. When he failed to produce it, suspicion began to grow among the team. A closer inspection of the storage area allegedly revealed that several hard drives were missing. Staff members also reportedly discovered partially burnt packaging boxes inside the cupboard, though there were no signs of any actual fire damage around the storage space. The company owners were then informed, following which the matter was reported to the police.
Hard drives allegedly sold for ₹15,000–20,000 each.
During police questioning, Khan allegedly confessed to stealing hard drives over the past several months. Reports suggest he admitted to taking 24 drives and selling them to a man in Borivali for amounts ranging between ₹15,000 and ₹20,000 each. However, an internal audit conducted later reportedly revealed a far larger loss, with as many as 119 hard drives said to be missing from the office.
According to reports, Shahid Khan, associated with the Mumbai office, has been arrested in connection with the alleged theft.
